We are certain that once you have had an opportunity to view our facilities in the heart of a sugar estate, you will realise what an ideal and unique venue Canefields is.

When it comes to choosing your location in our beautiful building and landscaped indigenous gardens you are spoilt for choice. Our function centre can seat up to 300 guests in
Air-conditioned comfort but can also be partitioned into a smaller more intimate venue.
Our function centre opens out onto a patio which overlooks the sugarcane fields leading down to our traditional Zulu Boma with its own bar facilities.

Smaller affairs can be enjoyed in our traditional Zulu Boma with the sounds of the wind rustling through the sugarcane fields, in our air conditioned Restaurant or Conservatory.

We offer a fully catered functions and accompanied in this package is a selection of menus which is bound to please even the most discerning of tastes. Canfields also offers a self catering option for those that which to take care of their own catering needs.
With a great selection of wine and a fully licensed well stocked bar it is as easy as just placing your order.

Our highest priority is to take away your stress and worry so that you can focus on your day and make the most of your event. We therefore work closely with you to plan and arrange everything according to your vision.

*Please add on an additional 25% to the applicable venue hire should you be booking the venue for use on a public holiday.

The venue is inclusive of the following:
Use of stipulated venue / venues
Standard Cutlery, Crockery and Glassware.
Round Tables with tables cloths. (Seat 8 – 10 pax)
Brown Conference Chairs.
Bar service with waitrons – number of waitrons to be determined by the hotel.
Should you wish for additional waitrons this can be arrange at an additional expense.

Anything extra, which is not included in the above mentioned, will be at an extra cost.


Venue hire is non-refundable. We require a one hundred percent non-refundable deposit of the relevant Venue Hire Fee to secure your date of choice. Provisional bookings can only be held for 48 hours after which it will be released without further notification from the hotel. The bookings work on a first pay first serve basis. Please ensure that our facilities and equipment meet your requirements before paying your non-refundable deposit.

Breakage deposit

A breakage deposit charge of R 5 000.00 will be levied to cover any breakages and or overtime should the event run later than scheduled. This amount will be included in your quote.
The client agrees to accept responsibility for all conduct by its guests and any damage caused to the allocated rooms, furnishings and equipment therein, by any act or omission of the client or guests / employee of the client.
Malicious damage, breakages and theft will be charged at full replacement cost.
The Breakage deposit will be refunded within 10 working days after taking the above into account.

Time Limits

Functions must terminate by 00h00 and guests are to vacate the venue no later than 00h30 unless a later time is agreed upon with the establishment at a rate of R 2 500.00 per hour and the payment thereof provided for.
Should you require the venue for a morning function, the function must terminate by 18h00 and guests are to vacate the venue no later than 18h30 unless a later time is agreed upon with the establishment at a rate of R 2500.00 per hour and the payment thereof provided for.
NB: Food as per health regulations can only be kept warm for a prescribed period of time then it can no longer be served. Please ensure your function runs as per your schedule issued to the hotel.

Setup & Breakdown

Depending on the availability of the Venue, your décor set-up may be done the day before the function between 07h30 and 22h00. Should we have a function on that day; the venue will be made available to you no later than 18h00.
Should you wish to secure the venue for the entire day before your function this can be arranged at a discounted rate of 50% on the applicable venue hire.
Canefields will be responsible for the basic set up of your cutlery, crockery and glassware.
We will set out the tables and chairs with linen as per your seating plan.
It is the responsibility of the Décor Company or facilitator to set up and clear up their personal items. (ie: flowers, tie-backs, overlays, ribbons, napkins, table favors etc.)
Breakdown of the function is to take place no later than the day after the function, provided no alternative arrangements have been made.
Service providers (i.e. florist, photographers, DJ’s etc.) must be approved by the hotel.
Service providers are not permitted to make use of our staff to set-up or clear up, unless arranged with the hotel at additional Labor costs.
The client will be responsible for the safe keeping of, or any damage caused to equipment hired on their behalf.
Canefields will not be held liable for any loss or damage resulting from the presence of your guests / service providers or their respective properties on the Hotels property.

Beverages & tabs

Our Function Venues are fully licensed and we will arrange all the beverages for your function including specific drinks enjoyed by you, your family and guests. If you have any special requests please place your order in writing 30 days prior to the wedding. We can also suggest wines from our extensive wine list to compliment your meal.

Corkage is available for Champagne and wines should we not stock your desired choice.
We do not allow other beverages to be brought in.
Please enquire regarding our corkage rate as they are brand and volume dependant, limited to 4 bottles per table.
Corkage rates will not be refunded on items which are not consumed but you are welcome to remove these items after your function.

Various billing options are available to you or your guests.

Open bar tabs and limited bar tabs (you stipulate a monetary limit and select the items) are payable upfront by the client. Our manager on duty will update the facilitator or any nominated person on the progress of the bar tab throughout the function. Should the final bill be less than the pre-paid amount the balance will be refunded with your breakage deposit.
Alternatively a standard cash bar will be operated.

*10% service fee is charged to all bar tabs

No persons are permitted to bring in any alcohol onto the licensed property. Any persons found contriving this rule will be asked to leave the property.

Canefields supports responsible drinking therefore no persons under the age of 18, visibly pregnant or appearing to be under the influence of alcohol will be served from the bar.
Our liquor licence stipulates that no alcohol may be served after 02h00.
A Tea and Coffee Station is available with a selection of teas and filter coffee at a cost of R25pp.

Food Service & Menu

Fully catered functions:
Please contact us for the menu or would prefer a tailored made menu please contact us so we can arrange a quote accordingly.
Final menu choices need to be confirmed, signed off and the invoice thereof settled prior to the function.
Final catering numbers must include all service providers and children.
Children aged 4 to 12 are charged half price on the menu options.
Service providers are charged half price on the menu options.
Prices are based on estimates which may be revised should your expected numbers change or market related food prices fluctuate

*10% service fee will be charged to all menu items payable.

Self catering option:
Should you wish to make use of our self catering option there will be a R50 plate charge levied per person attending the function including service providers.
Final numbers with regards to the plate charge must be confirmed and the invoice thereof settled prior to the function.
With our self catering option you will be required to bring in your own equipment, utensils, carving station, chafing dishes with fuel ect.
A basic kitchen area will be provided with a washing up station from which you can operate.
The food will have to be prepared off-site and brought in as we do not allow for food preparations on the property.
Outside caterers must be approved by the hotel and it is a requirement that they do a site visit at least one week prior to the function.
*The hotel reserves the right to post a notice informing guests to our establishment that this is a self catering event and that Canefields accepts no responsibility in terms of the quality and quantity of the food prepared and served.
